Orthopaedic Care in Kannur, Planned Before You Travel.

For international patients considering knee replacement, hip replacement, ACL reconstruction or revision surgery at Aster MIMS Kannur. Begin with a provisional review of existing records, then plan the required assessment, travel and follow-up around your individual case.

A Clear Starting Point

What this pathway is designed to provide

Before You Travel

A provisional clinical review

Existing scans, reports and prior treatment details can be reviewed to identify missing information and whether an in-person assessment may be appropriate. This does not replace examination or final diagnosis.

If Travel Is Advised

Coordinated next steps

The clinical team and hospital international patient service align the information, assessment and hospital steps that must be confirmed before travel arrangements are finalised.

After You Return

Continuity of care

Discharge information, rehabilitation guidance and follow-up are planned with the patient, family and local care team according to the procedure and recovery needs.

The CORI Surgical System is available at Aster MIMS Kannur. Robotic assistance is one technique within knee replacement and is not required or suitable for every patient.

From Your Home to Ours.

Six clear stages, with important decisions confirmed before travel and again after in-person assessment.

Step 01

Send an Initial Enquiry

Share your contact details, a short history and the procedure or problem you are enquiring about. Do not send medical records through the public form. The team will explain the appropriate route for existing scans and reports.

Step 02

Provisional Record Review

The available history, imaging and reports are reviewed to understand the problem, identify missing information and decide whether an in-person assessment may be appropriate. This review does not confirm a final diagnosis or operation.

Step 03

Written Next Steps

The response sets out the further information or assessment needed and the provisional clinical direction. Dates, hospital arrangements and any procedure remain subject to in-person review, medical fitness and hospital confirmation.

Step 04

Travel Coordination

If travel is advised, the hospital international patient team can help coordinate confirmed documentation, airport transfer and accommodation guidance. Travel should be booked only after the relevant clinical and hospital steps are confirmed.

Step 05

In-Person Assessment and Care

Examination, required investigations, anaesthetic assessment and informed consent take place in person. The final diagnosis and treatment plan may change when new clinical information becomes available.

Step 06

Recovery and Home Follow-Up

Discharge records, rehabilitation instructions, local clinician or physiotherapy needs, flight clearance and remote follow-up are planned individually. Timing depends on the procedure and your recovery.

Important: A provisional review cannot replace physical examination, anaesthetic assessment, required investigations or informed consent. Do not use this pathway for an emergency.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Which orthopaedic concerns can international patients enquire about?

International patients can enquire about knee replacement, hip replacement, ACL reconstruction, revision joint replacement and complex orthopaedic problems. Suitability for any procedure is determined individually after the required clinical assessment.

What records should I prepare for a provisional review?

Prepare a short medical history, recent imaging and reports, a current medication list, and any prior operation notes, implant records or discharge summaries relevant to the problem. Submit the enquiry form first and the team will explain the appropriate route for sending records.

Can a remote review confirm my diagnosis or surgery?

No. A remote review is provisional and cannot replace a physical examination, anaesthetic assessment, required investigations or informed consent. Final diagnosis, fitness for surgery and treatment are confirmed in person.

How are travel coordination and follow-up handled?

If an in-person assessment is advised, the hospital international patient team can coordinate confirmed next steps such as documentation, transfers and accommodation guidance. Discharge records, rehabilitation instructions and follow-up are planned around the individual procedure, recovery and home support.
